If you are looking to grow your business, you might want to widen your online influence. Word of mouth is the most important method of marketing. This is because most Americans will always as a family member or friend for advice when shopping for any type of service. You might want to do some market research from the very beginning to target the right market online. You can choose to explore business networking by joining a website called www.linkedin.com. Bill Gates and John Kerry both belong to this website and they can network with other business people and have the amazing opportunity of sharing clients and forming partnerships.
You can also approach other business directly and send them emails to let them know you have seen their website. Tell them what you are looking for and what your intentions are. If you want to share leads, referrals or get involved in a joint project then let them know.
Another alternative would be to go right towards their target market and if you have a website that is focused on health food, then find websites that have a similar theme. Some people may have a message forum or board. Participate in forum posts about health food and talk to other people who are involved with health food.
When you visit a message board, make sure you go to the board with the intention of helping people and not just yourself. If someone does ask a question and you have some answers or feedback for them, then post a reply. You can also provide information within your signature about your business. This may include a link to your website or a lyric or product jingle. Do not spam across the boards with ads or else you will be frowned upon. And it will not result in sales.
If you start your own blog you will be able to create more of an online presence and be able to create a trust between your website visitors and yourself. They will be able to get to know you better. When people think of something related to your service or product, they will return to you for your help and advice. You can always ask questions and let your readers respond back to you. They will love the constant back and forth interaction and they can also give you some fabulous feedback for future projects. People will come back to you for information because they will begin to trust what you are saying and the services you talk about or promote.
