If you work from home you know how easy it is to mix up the lines of knowing what is ‘work’ and what is ‘home’ life. You might be constantly interrupted by friends, family, neighbors and local services.
When you have other chores around the house it might be hard to stay focused on your work. It is important to have a workplace that is your very own individual space. Try not to use this space for anything else but work. Once you step into your workspace, your mind will turn immediately to your work and your family will know that you are ‘at work’. Your work space should be inspiring to you and it should be a comfortable place for idea creation and success. It should be a place that is welcoming to you and it should never feel like a prison.
Some people choose to have a colorful workplace that stimulates the mind and helps create inspiration. They might choose to plaster photos up on the wall of warm dreamy sunsets and beaches. They might make a collage of goals that they wish to accomplish, whether it is a new dream house or a sports car. Some people find that inspirational quotes can be helpful, as well as photos, affirmations and more. Whenever you are feeling frustrated or stressed, slow down and take a break. Look around your room.
For example, if you decided to work from home to spend more time with the children then hang some photos up of them in your space. If you have certain goals then place photos of your goals around your workspace. If you want to go on a luxury vacation on the beach or a cruise line then place some seashells on a shelf within your space.
Other people like to work in a clean atmosphere without any clutter. If looking at loads of clutter bothers you then visit an office supply store and place file folders and organizational tools within your space. Clear your desk at the end of your work day so that when you enter your work office the next day you will feel clutter free. Your mind will be at rest and you will be able to work on your tasks for the day clutter free. It might be god to create some sort of ritual to help inspire you and your work. If you would like to spend the first 15 minutes of every day reviewing what you need to work on for that day, then maybe you can do an activity or light a candle to make sure your mind knows you are in work mode. When you are finished with your work day you can clear your mind and get ready for some special time with the family.

I know part of the thing is when I finally make the transition to working outside of the home to working from home. Fortunately my website affords the luxury of I can stop working outside of the home when I am ready.
I just fear the distraction from the T.V. I plan on creating an office upstairs in my library however it is very hard to stay focused like that. I just always wonder how people do it without going insane!
