Signing Up To Two Lists With One Form

June 15, 2007 · Print This Article

I’ve been asked if there’s a way to subscribe people to two lists when they signup for a free newsletter. The trick is, the two lists are on separate systems, she doesn’t have control over one of them. The answer is yes, with a little bit of custom coding.

However, I caution anyone when doing this and it’s not related to the technical part. Email subscriptions today can be a sensitive issue. I would be very careful doing this. You should clearly let people know what they are signing up for up front. If I were told I’m signing up for a freebie and find out I’m actually subscribed to two different list only one of which I gave consent to, I’m going to be rather upset. So while technically it is possible, it’s good business practice to be truthful with our prospects.
