This Grammie Is Also A WAHM
Yes, I’m a grammie. That really doesn’t have anything to do with my being a WAHM. I mention it only because I want to convey to other “more mature” moms that age need not be a barrier to learning new things and undertaking new challenges.
I recently retired after teaching high school mathematics for 29 years. I was tired of getting up and going to school every day, but I wasn’t tired of education and learning. Finding a way to stay involved in a field I am passionate about while working from home has been absolutely wonderful! I like to call it my second career.
As grammies often are, I am the “on call anytime we need her” sitter for my two-year old granddaughter. Of course I wouldn’t have it any other way. But I have to tell you, trying to get much work done with her around is quite a challenge. I find myself wondering how you younger wahms with small children at home ever get anything done! You all are truly amazing and I have the utmost respect for all that you accomplish.
So all you grammies, jump right on in! You have all those life experiences to draw on and have much to contribute. Learning never ends, and besides haven’t you heard? Fifty is now the new thirty!
