Name: Kris Havlicek
Tell us a little about yourself:
I am 28 and my husband, James, is in the army. We have two sons, Cherokee
and Maximus. We currently reside in Lawton, OK, but home is Carson City,
NV.
What is your business name and web address:
Kustom By Kris http://www.kustombykris.com
What inspired you to become a work at home mom:
My children have special needs that make it necessary for me to be home with
them. I figured I would take advantage of having this time to do whatever I
want and start earning my own income.
Tell us a little about your business:
Kustom By Kris has several branches (and is growing all the time), offering
online services with discounts for WAHMs. The services include web hosting,
graphics & web design, newsletter services, tutorials, and online
classrooms.
Is there any advice that you would like to share with other women:
Be patient! It takes a long time and a lot of work to get your name and
business out there. Don’t worry about the little things, make your website
professional, network with other business owners, and keep chugging along.
What has been the most effective advertising method for you:
Networking through groups and forums.
Can you share with us one negative business experience that you learned from:
Refer to my Terms of Service whenever I have an issue with a client! I had
a client who was taking advantage of my services and she did not like any of
my input. It was very frustrating, though I was nothing but sincerely nice
and patient with this person. All of her requests went above and beyond the
terms I had outlined and for over a month I didn’t stop to think about
looking at my own “rules”. Now I refer to the information on my website
whenever someone has a question about my services, instead of trying to
appease every request.
